OVERVIEW Rutland Water is one of the largest man-made reservoirs in Europe and is located in Rutland, England’s smallest county. Rutland Water was built in the 1970's to supply water to the growing populations and industry in the East Midlands utilising water from the lower reaches of the Nene and Welland. Normanton Church was saved from the water when the reservoir was created and now is situated on an island of its own. |
