OVERVIEW

The Lune Aqueduct is often referred to as one of the "wonders of the waterways" and is a masterpiece of civil engineering. It carries the picturesque Lancaster canal 664 feet across the River Lune at a height of 61 feet (53 feet above the normal water level in the river). Work started in 1794 and was completed in 1797. The Midland Hotel next to
the Promenade at Morecambe is an interesting
art deco building which has recently been restored to its former glory.

Lovely route taking in so many pretty spots. very well marked on cycle path and the canal and promenade sections are particularly beautiful. Traffic free - will be doing this one again We measured it shorter at 10.4m though
