OVERVIEW A lovely, historic park that houses the Royal Observatory and the National Maritime Museum. Its possible to follow the paths around the perimeter, passing through the Rose Garden and the Flower Garden and past the National Maritime Museum, the total distance of which is 2 miles. However, there are plenty of other paths that criss cross throughout and its well worth making a diversion into the centre for the spectacular views across London from near to the entrance of the Royal Observatory. The South of the Park (and the Royal Observatory) are on a hill so at some point there will be a fairly steep climb. Cycling is allowed on certain paths and dogs are allowed, but not in the Gardens. There are cafes at St.Mary's Gate and also near to the Royal Observatory where you will also find the toilets (with a water fountain). There is a childrens' playground and of course the Royal Observatory (which includes a Planetarium) makes an interesting visit. There is pay and display parking along Blackheath Avenue and Greenwich station is a few minutes jog away.
