This Topic has been set up as a place for anyone who wants to talk about this new Member League.

We thought people might like it. And i see you have a whole bunch of people just ahead of you on age grading. Go get that up to 70% plus

Andy Bick...

p.s. just raced today myself and scored 77% ...good job we don't get downgraded for that!

Just to mention that at the moment the league table cannot take into account different types of terrain, so please don't be dispirited if you record a lower age graded percentage on a muddy, off-road race for example.  However, we are planning to add a facility to log different terrains for races/training runs and then if there is enough interest we can split the league into race types.

Anyone at GRG.  I also have a faster race in my book from last year, Nairn 10km, looking at the website the route is mapped on GRG.  Is it possible to update my race result in the league table (not that I'm competitive)  I just need all the help I can get

Thanks

Hi Robert

Yes - I can understand you want your best result on there - thats the whole point!

the reason it isn't in the table is that you havent calculated your age graded percentage for this race.  So, you need to go back in to your log book and edit your entry so that you can calculate this (first of all make sure the hill profile has been calculated in your saved route).  As soon as its done then it should pop up on the league table (assuming you get a better percentage than the other race)

Today we have added some extra columns to the League Table to show the distance for each race logged and the overall time taken.  Also if you hover over the time the pace per mile will be shown.  This should give a bit of extra interest and some interesting stats for those of us who enjoy analysing running results!   Also, it shows that even if you may be towards the bottom of the table it doesn't necessarily mean you are  slow, it just shows that you may be younger than others and so have plenty of time to move up the table!    Also, it gives an idea of the pace that needs to be attained to record a certain percentage.

Hi,
Just looking at the League Table, I notice there's a new leader at the top of the board....congratulations to him.
However, based on GRG's synopsis of how 'age graded percentage' is calculated, the new leader (at over 86%) is considered to be almost 'WORLD CLASS'.
I think that maybe the league should be split into 2 categories... One for professional runners like the current league leader...and a seperate league for us mere mortals who have only been running a short while.    Maybe break it up into - those who run preofessionally and those who run for fitness and pleasure.
By doing this, it'd give us non-serious runners a chance to climb the table.
What do you think GRG ???

Hi Craig,

Yes we were impressed as well. He's pretty good isn't he! The league table is a bit like a race with some good guy winning it and the rest of us mere mortals following on behind and inevitably someone coming in last. Without all us lot though he would be in a race of one and that wouldn't be much fun. I like to think we are all at the front and all those millions not excercising are behind the lot of us. One of the great things about running is whatever level we are at a little training inevitably has a benifical effect on fitness and race times. Now i'm feeling guilty and better get some shorts on and get out the door...

I take your point about running just for fitness and pleasure but there's no practical way to separate those out and in any case the more the merrier in the table as far as I am concerned. While I'm on I'd like to encourage some more members to add their profiles as they make interesting and inspirational reading and we can maybe see how serious or not we all are.

Hi Russell,

the good run guide needs to have a known route to work out your percentage on our system so we can compare like with like. I presume you got it off the parkrun site and simply typed it in? As we don't know what basis individual race organisers use we can't use that percentage. If you know the route click round it using the route measurer and then relog the run or runs when a percentge will be worked out automatically.

Hope that helps

Andy
