We at Good Run Guide are putting on a 4 mile long trail race on Wednesday Evening 14th August. The race will feature little known and well known parts of the common and should provide a challenge to experienced runners and novices alike, so if you've never run alongside a bubbling brook, up a toast rack, and over some rifle butts now is your chance. We are hoping this will be a chance for many GRG members to meet up for an evening chat and run. Search for the race on the listings section of the website! |

After all the good reviews of last years race we decided to put on another 3 races this year. These take the form of a 3 race series on the 2nd Wednesday evening of each of May, June and July. Again they are adventurous trail races on Wimbledon Common following a similar course to last year but the first two 5 miles long and the final one longer at 7.5 Miles. Let the races begin! |

Sending out race details by email today, Monday. If not received by this evening please mail me at andy.bickerstaff@goodrunguide.co.uk We have twice as many entrants as last year but there is still time to enter or turn up on the day in good time as I need to set the race off promptly at 7pm this Wednesday evening. There has been a bit of rain so the course is a little damp in parts, especially muddy and challenging through the rifle butts, but once that is over there is some great fast trail running to be done. It's going to be great.

Well race one is over successfully and results are on race info page. We had 75 finishers who braved the course which had become a bit muddier than when Richard ran it on the Monday morning due to a couple of downpours on Monday and Tuesday, but on the Wednesday evening the weather was lovely. Roll on the next one 2nd Wednesday of June at 7pm.

I ran course 2 today, a lot less mud to start on this one but 2 or 3 hills to deal with. The rest of the course is probably even more muddier than last time and the brambles and nettles have grown over some of the paths now so be prepared to get stung/cut :) |

Don't worry Richard as previously a couple of days before the race i go round and clear the paths of encroaching vegitation! Its an adventure but not a stinging and scratching one :-) As for the mud i haven't a lot of control but trail shoes are certainly recommended at the moment. I will check conditions during the lead up! |
