Lovin' the others, tho'... well, Muse are a bit lame, but lovin' the others! You may be wondering what I'm listening to (OK maybe you're not, but I'm telling you anyway!) - at this precise moment it's 'She's 19 Years Old' (Muddy Waters) and next up is 'My Baby' (Little Walter), but lately I've been listening a whole lot to Villagers, Asian Dub Foundation, Fairport Convention, Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti and Tunng. Now tell me I'm not open-minded! :) |

Hi Guys, I have run with music for ages, and yes I can hear my ragged breathing & sloppy footfall! I ran the VLM last year, my first marathon, and for the last 6 miles Kasabian Fast Fuse was the only thing to keep me going, and I still love the track. fave tracks include Running Down A dream- Tom Petty homage to patagonia- Lemon Jelly Inertia creeps- Massive Attack Tome is running Out - Muse Pencil full of lead- Paolo nutini Livin LA vida loca- Ricky martin Anything with a good beat- and I do love a bit of Ac/Dc
I will try some of your suggestions great thread

OOOhh- like the Placebo one- will dig out my CDs - have the Kanye one already on my iPod. Wierd how I would never listen to that in 'real' life, but when running your head moves in different ways too! |

Something bizarre happened to me earlier. My music was on 'random', and Lady Gaga came on! I certainly wasn't aware that I owned any such music. However, the really bizarre thing was that I actually quite liked it! Perhaps the combination of entring Mitcham and passing the 12-mile mark does strange things to a man's musical appreciation... |

So I suppose The Specials and Madness are out for you Adrian, it might end up being a ghost town.....You could even do the sax movements whilst running.....one step beyondddddd. Instead you're on the highway to hell. I'll get me coat!!!

Hi Folks! I've had quite a chuckle reading these posts. When I started running just last July, I had a running buddy who helped me train for my first 10k, so we chatted and didn't need music. He required surgery in November, and as I had become addicted and had a 10 mile race planned for December, I decided I needed some accompaniment. I donned my ipod nano and off I went... Now since I was about 9 years old I have alwways considered myself a mod of the highest order, so 60s and rare soul music has always been my bag, however I soon discovered it's useless to run too! I've developed a more eclectic taste over the years and last fathers day I was bought the ac/dc ironman 2 soundtrack. I put this on my ipod and wowsers!!! Instant running music! It was so helpful,, I have downloaded almost all their back catalogue, some 284 tracks.. Why is it helpful? (as an old drummer) it has a very simple 4/4 timing for the most part so is very easy to pace to, its not TOO fast but very beefy, and rarely gets TOO slow. The songs have a very consistent timing also, so very handy if planning long runs. I encourage you all to try ac/dc, if you can stand the cheesy song titles and some sexual innuendo laden lyrics it really is great company to run to,, just don't tell my mod friends i told ya! Let me know if you try it! God Bless Adrian
