Hiya, I am hoping to gather information relating to the yorkshire 3 peaks challenge, it is something I aim to take part in next month. If anyone has completed this challenge, I would love to hear from them, also, if there is anyone looking to take part in the same, please get in touch.

Have you looked at the Fell Runners Association forum? There's generally a dearth of good information on training for fell running and the FRA is one of the few places you'll find it - all from individuals though - you won't find loads of different training schedules like you get all over the web for marathons. The book Off-Road Running by Sarah Dowell is good - it'll give you info and tools to build your own schedule - but again, don't expect it all laid out for you. It may well be that you're a regular fell runner and you knew all that...in which case apologies!

Hiya...due to injury i missed the challenge, but have since applied for the challenge next april.

By way of training for this, I am planning to travel to the dales to climb each peak (up and over, and return) 1 at a time on the day, to gain a little knowledge, and experience what is ahead. I know that pen y ghent is next to the start of the challenge, near horton in ribblesdale, that is first, then following week maybe whernside, and finally ingleborough.

Having this experience of each may enable me to prepare properly for the challenge, although I am aiming to try and complete in around 8 hours, I think to complete it and enjoy the magnificent views and the day itself will be satisfaction enough.

Does anyone think that this may be a suitable way of taking up the challenge ?

I too have walked it, many times, and have also witnessed the cycle race, where they seem to spend rather more time carrying their bikes than riding them!

Pen y Ghent is probably my favourite hill in the world, but then I've never tried running up it!

Good luck, and huge respect, to anyone considering this race.

Hiya thanks for the info, I can only imagine how spectacular the event will be......especially if the weather is decent. I'm surprised by the amount of people I've chatted to who have completed this route, and all say it is amazing, so I guess a camera will be part of my essential kit !!
