As I understand it (if I do!), it's not an attempt to tell you how fast you can run a marathon, but to calculate how much carb loading would be required to achieve a given time, plus the same info for a fastest (aggressive) pace based on maximum carb uptake, and a slower (conservative) pace based on 'normal' carb uptake (whatever normal is). In other words, it doesn't mean you can run that pace necessarily, but you could if you got your fuelling right AND were fit enough! It also appears to assume a flat/fast course - a tougher race would presumably mean a higher fuel/pace ratio... Good luck in your chosen events folks - I'm doing Rutland Water mara next week. (BTW if you can't get it to work check you have Java loaded) |
