Ive been using beetroot juice for a couple of weeks now and the results have been astounding! I have new pb's in all distances, my 5k time is up by two minuts to 16min 48secs. Im not sure if it is the beetroot but i have no explanation for it, i have searched my food diary and cant see any other changes. Apparently research shows that it is packed with Nitrate which increases oxygen supply to the blood which in turn aids muscle productivity. I love the stuff, give it a go and let me know what happens for you. Just DONT spill it! |

That's interesting. A magazine, runners world i think, went on about it a while ago. However when i didn't find it in Tesco i lost interest, so i'd like to know where you get it also. By the way, down to 16:48...good going indeed but possibly the 4000 mile year might possibly have contributed to that and not all down to the juice :) |

Mmmm. So much academic research is conducted using too small a sample to be statistically representative. I'll take mine with a pinch of salt... Holland & Barrett sell it, by the way. |

I know the studies seem a little inconclusive but from a personal point of view it has imporved my performance and also it tastes great to me. Holland & Barrett sell as the guys say and also Somerfield. Called Beet It. My opinion is that people use so many supplements which are an expensive form of nutrition people can easily get through a healthy diet. I would rather enjoy foods/drinks which were more natural. I dont use gels etc for runs. |

We'll have to compare experiences Derek! The trick is to have enough of the stuff to have a glass a day for an extended period of time I guess. So I already need to get another bottle. A glass a day Mark? |
