Hi I've seen the hill profile and the map - but I wondered what people who've done the race before thought about it? would you class it as "super hilly" or reasonable in relation to other marathons? It's my first marathon, so nervy anyway, but wondered if pace changes DRAMATICALLY up the hills?? Looks like they come around 7/14/21 miles... Any Windermere-experienced runners out there able to share their experience?? Thanks |

It was my first ever marathon, from what I can remember of it the last 10 miles where just one long hill. I had gone off to fast and got to ten miles in 64 min the next 6 where not too bad, and I was on for around 3 hours, but then I hit the hill it starts at Bowness and go’s up all the way to Windermere nothing to steep just grinds you down I ended up walking in mile 24 came in 3:20 pete hutch |

Thanks Pete. I think I might have to go up and do a recce a few weeks before. Good to know about the hill from Bowness.. Am thinking also a bit more hill training wouldn't go amiss. Did they provide isotonic drinks or just water? |
