Alright GRG buddies,

Wanted to give you all a heads up now that if I dont ever post on this forum again its because I didnt survive this weekends 95 miles, West Highland Way race.

Even though ive run dozens of marathons and ultras this will definately be my toughest race yet.

Thousands of ft of ascent and descent makes this one of the hardest races in the UK.

Wish me luck!

Mark

Respect Mark.

One of my Ranelagh mates ran it two years ago and the blog was full of pain as was the video but also suprisngly uplifing and at the end the joy was palpable. Go for it. Look forward to seeing how you get on: i expect a great run.

Hey Andy,

I had to pull out! Gutted but ill be back next year and im aiming high, top 5 finish.

I couldnt stop throwing up and then the runs started, then hamstring and then the mind followed. All a learning experience though and ill take the positives from it and come back.

Had the cold all last week and a bad cough which was the reason I was sick, still no excuse.

M

Hey, sorry to hear that. With something like that amazing 95 mile challenge everything needs to be right and a cold is so debilitating. I tried to run a marathon with one ...never again. i was thinking you might make the top 5, roll on next year!

Cold and cough are definitely very good reasons to pull out. I also ran a couple of marathons one year with a chest infection/virus thing and guess what, they were my slowest times. And they were 'only' 26 miles!

Good luck next year!
