Hi All, I've been running for about 2 years on and off and have completed many 10K with my fastest at 52.48. Last year i signed up for the new forest half marathon and followed a half marathon training programe. Everything was going great untill 5 days before when i pulled a muscle in my shoulder which meant i had to pull out. I was gutted and all that training. It took some time to heal and before i knew it, it had been 3 months since my last run. Im now back to running 3 times a week but just cant seem to get back to my pre-injury pace. Every run seems to be a struggle. I am thinking of re-entering the half marathon this year. Anyone got any ideas to help me improve. |

Hi marge, Thanks for the advice but as far as i am awhere i have no health problems. Probably i just need to keep the training going and in fact since i posted this i have completed a 10k in a time of 55.39 so not to bad. I hurt my shoulder lifting my mast on my sailing dinghy. Its funny how something so silly can result in pain for weeks. As said by you and Kate its a case of being patient and slowly build up distance. I will decide within the next month or so weather to enter for the New Forest Half, but im sure i will. John |
