Well done my 10 miles on Tuesday and to be honest it was pretty good. I set a new PB for that distance at 1.32.14, so that was a plus. Feeling a lot more confident now about the Half Marathon in 10 days. Gonna do a couple more small runs before the big day. then have a couple of days rest before.

Hi Craig,

Thanks for the words of support. with all those negitive thought decided to run today instead of tomorrow and completed 8.5 miles. Couldn't say it was ease but happy with the time and my performance. Next run will be Friday 4.5 miles and then a 10 miler next Tuesday.

Hi John,
I think we've all suffered from this type of set back at some time in the past.
For me its mostly a 'mental' thing rather than actual exhaustion. Once I start getting any 'negative performance' thoughts in my head such as "oooh i feel tired" or "oooh my legs hurting" or "oooh how much further"  it's very hard to re-focus.   It hasn't happened lately......fortunately..... and I too am taking part in a half marathon in a few weeks (Oct 3rd).   I think what's working for me is that I'm actually thinking about my technique as I'm running and focusing on my actual movement as opposed to thinking about how much further I have to go.
Seems to be working ok.
After 2 weeks of BBQ's and stella whilst on hols in August I was left with only 6 weeks to get up to speed before race date so I threw together a quick training schedule.

In brief...this is my bible for the next few weeks:

Monday 1 hr cycling
Tuesday 1 hr speed work
Wednesday REST
Thursday 6 miles or 8 miles (alternating weekly)
Friday 5 miles
Saturday REST

Sunday Long run (varying between 8 miles and 16 miles)

I've only ever entered one race previous to this and that was last years event of the same race. So my only target for this years run is to beat last years time. Which I'm pretty confident of doing.

GOOD LUCK WITH YOURS & ENJOY THE DAY

Hi all,

Only 3 weeks to go until my FIRST Half Marathon and training going ok. Had bit of a set back today. For some reason only managed 3.5 miles before i felt like i was running on empty. Decided to stop at that point and save myself for my 10 mile run on thursday evening. Starting to feel a little nervous about the distance, although having said that i im looking forward to the race or perhaps i'm looking forward finishing it, not quite sure.LOL. Keeping my finggers cross that i don't get an injuries, especially my achillies. Is there anyone else running the race and if so what sort of training are you doing.

Cheers
John
