You made me smile Martin, especially in light of the video. I could just imagine you running up the road, pained expression and all reaching what you thought was the 5k finish...... only to find it was the water station on a 5 miler :-0

Thanks Martin and Helen. I now have a plan. It will be good practice for my first 10K next month too.

I have a 5 mile race late on Sunday morning which is my longest race distance so far. I'm not fast and it will take me nearly an hour. I was thinking of having my usual weetabix for breakfast, possibly with some additional toast and some bananas before the race. Does it make a difference having a high carb meal the night before, maybe pasta bolognese, or is this too long before the race to make a difference.

I also need to make sure I get myself properly hydrated as I can feel I am not drinking enough water at the moment. Is drinking loads of water on the morning enough or should it be done for a few days before?
