Well i did find out but forgot to mention that the burley horse trial course which I mentioned no longer exsists but I have spoken to the race organiser about the race and unfortunatly they stoped because of lack of free help to manage the event. She was happy to know i was interested and said if i knew anyone who wanted to take it back up again she would happily pass on information to get it re organised but it would be with the charity she is with. I really have no time to do this myself or the resource to even begin to think about reorganising.

Its a shame when loved events have to stop.

Thanks Oliver - the series does sound good.  I have tried contacting the organisers to see if they would like to add the races and routes to our the race listings on GRG but have had no reply.  If anybody knows the organisers personally please can you let them know that we would be pleased to list these.

I can recommend the Coastal Trail Series but they are hardly local to Northampton.  They are, however, on a Saturday so they keep your Sunday free.  They are superb courses and are great fun - and very well organised.  Well worth the travelling (and I live on the Northampton/Oxfordshire border).  Check out EnduranceLife.com for more info.

My aim this winter is to obviously keep running as it is the easiest season to relax. I used to be a member of Peterborough athletics club until i was 21 but work and location took me away from athletics. Now im back on the scene trying to achieve 10k and half marathon distances(compleated my first ever 10k last month) Unfortunatly for me I am a chuch go'er so sundays are generally off limits unless I am running for charity and not seeing it as competitive.

Cross country season is the worst for sunday events... does anyone have any information about events whcih are not on sunday and near the northampton area?

Try at least once the Burley hill trials.... yes you guessed it. Its a cross country but you jump all the horse jumps too.... It was the most fun I ever had running. Just trying to find details of it.. It may only be advertised locally around the time of the event. I have called the couse secutary for more information.

Although there are still some road races taking place over the winter, this is really the time when a lot of runners turn their thoughts to tackling the mud and the cold over cross country/multi-terrain courses.  If you belong to a club, the chances are you will have the cross country season lined up, but there are plenty of  opportunities for non-club members to take part in cross country/mult-terrain/adventure races and get muddy!

So, have you entered an off-road race over the winter and want to discuss this or have you any recommendations for races you have run before, any races that are 'must try at least once' challenges?
